Chicken Pot Pie ala Paleo (revised)

When I first gave up grain I started thinking about all the delicious food i would be missing.  I felt sorry for myself for about 4.7 seconds and then realized that if I wanted to feel better, heal better, and eat better, change was needed.  Chicken pot pie is a childhood favorite that should never…

orange dreamsicle gummies

Well since the first round of homemade gummies brought so many smiles, I thought I would try to make a few more.  These are reminiscent of an orange pushpop, creamy orange yummies molded right into gummies! Always a childhood favorite, these are refined sugar free, packed with gut-healing gelatin, and really fun to eat! ingredients:…

PECAN PIE MUFFINS

PECAN PIE MUFFINS have a certain comfort they provide by combining the best of both worlds… These muffins have been on my mind for awhile now. They have a gluten filled sister recipe that is so good that even after being gluten free for 5 years, I still think about them! Well now this grain…

Grain Free Crepes

Grain Free Crepes Prior to expanding this blog, there were many recipes I never even really thought about “paleofying.” The fun part about  asking for fan feedback is all of the new ideas and inspiration! This crepe recipe is the result of a fan’s request and it was a hit in our house this morning,…

no bake coconut haystacks – paleo style

growing up i loved the butterscotch chocolate haystacks my mom would make with lo mein noodles, chocolate, and butterscotch morsels.  given that the traditional recipe is well, not quite the way we eat these days, i figured i better come up with one that was! these add in pumpkin seeds, nuts, and flax seeds for…

grain free banana nut bread (with chocolate chips)

well, there is a first time for everything, and this was mine. to be quite honest, i am not even sure i’ve made banana bread before today. so this little experiment could have been inedible. no seriously, i’ve trashed food that not a single person in this house could choke down.  lucky for us all,…

Homemade Fruit Gummies

Homemade Fruit Gummies We’ve all been there…the snack aisle.  The kids have identified all of their favorite characters on the boxes of those fruit chews.  Ever pick up a box? Eeks. Luckily there are a few brands now who make their snacks out of 100% fruit, but they tend to be expensive and harder to…

Caramelized Onion Meatloaf I love a good meatloaf and i love onions.  so even if i am the only person pleased by this post, know that I am very happy when these onions and meatloaf joined forces. Luckily, I know my carnivorous family will scarf this down, so it will not be wasted! I always…

Mom’s Favorite Coffee

Mom’s Favorite Coffee I was a big fan of cream and sugar with a splash of coffee for years.  Then I transitioned to those flavored coffee creamers in the refrigerated section and was in heaven. Even when I subbed those out for the ‘natural’ version there was still a big problem; two actually – dairy…

flax seed muffins

after having several requests for a muffin, and realizing i really didn’t have a go-to muffin recipe, i developed this little treasure.  they are very reminiscent of a whole wheat muffin, oh the irony! bake them plain or add chopped nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips! the possibilities are endless. ingredients: 1/4 cup flax seeds 1/4…

brussel sprouts are kind of the forgotten veggie, i hate to admit.  well, apparently i am going to have to do a better job at remembering, because the littles never even let me plate them before they started noshing off the baking sheet. ingredients: 1 bag brussel sprouts (this was how trader joe’s sold them)…

About

Jennifer is a wife and mother of 3 in pursuit of better health for her family.
After being gluten free for 4 years, and having a multitude of chronic health issues, she realized there was still too much processed “food” in her pantry and change was needed. Jennifer began feeding her family more meals from WHOLE foods and less from boxes. Her recipes are predominantly paleo, meaning they are free of grain, gluten, dairy, and refined sugar, but make allowances for a few treats and sweets. She believes food can be medicine when used appropriately and that a few changes now can equate to huge benefits later. Healthy food does not need to be flavorless and void of personality, which she aims to accomplish through her many recipes.
