When the months roll around when we are spending the most time at the beach and outside, I tend to reach … [Read More...]

Paleo Baked Chocolate Ravioli

Oh. My. Chocolate. Have you ever had a recipe idea that in your mind was worth winning the Nobel Prize but then you tried to make it and flopped? Like a big flop? Me too. A lot. One day when I become brave I will post photos of said flops, but for now, take my…

5 Ingredient Grain Free Flatbread {Paleo/Nut-free}

Bottom line in the land of healthy eating – people want food that tastes good. The. End. And if those people are coming off of eating a Standard American Diet, then things like bread, pasta, desserts, and fried foods are in the priority. We are a carb, sugar, fat loving nation and to transition away…

Paleo Egg Rolls

Paleo Egg Rolls {Nut free/AIP}

Egg Rolls have always been my Chinese-American go to finger food. I mean, there is really nothing NOT to love about them. They are fried, filled with the perfect blend of meat, veggies, and seasoning, and they are fried. Oh, and they are fried! I love them dipped in sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce,…

SWEET POTATO BUNS

Happy Hamburger

Happy Hamburger Yes, I am calling these happy hamburgers. Is it silly? Yes. Borderline ridiculous? Maybe. But they made me happy. So there. These were so incredibly easy to throw together and there was no “downtime” waiting for the flavors to be absorbed. Just combine, make your patties, and get to grillin’ y’all! 1 pound…

Cilantro Watermelon Salad

I have always claimed that sweet and savory did not belong together. I would pick fruit out of salads and turn my nose up at sophisticated pairings. Then something happened – I started eating real food. And slowly after gaining more of an appreciation for organic, pure, chemical free foods, these pairings started to become more…

Lemon Tartlets {Paleo/AIP}

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and the menu planning has begun! I love that Mother’s day comes when the days are longer and the sun is warmer. Brunch is always a fun meal to celebrate this day as well, surrounded by family and friends and lots of smiling faces if we are lucky!…

Cinco de Mayo Menu Made Paleo

Cinco de Mayo Menu Made Paleo Amigos, if you have followed some of my latest recipes, you KNOW I am pumped about Cinco de Mayo!!! A day to celebrate the history of Tex-Mex and big frozen margs. No? Ok, ok, but it is a fun festive holiday that many Americans celebrate, regardless of their personal…

Virgin Mojito

Truth be told, I am not a big drinker. Between illness and just wanting to feel sharp and energized, I discovered that libations and I are not BFFs. In the land of Paleo, some indulge and some don’t – there is no steadfast rule. But since my personal Paleo county is dry, I thought it…

Paleo Shepherd’s Pie {Grain/Dairy Free, AIP option}

Paleo Shepherd’s Pie {Grain/Dairy Free, AIP option} Growing up, my dad would channel his Irish roots and make his version of Shepherd’s Pie almost weekly. It was certainly edible though looking back I giggle at our family’s “healthy” rendition. See, my dad has for many years been a Vegetarian and this pie, affectionately referred to…

Juicy Cubes

I am a big fan of water, meaning I drink a lot of it. Do I love water? I do not. It bores me. I favor bubbly water the most because it at least has some kick but I sure wish it had more personality. This idea came to me today as I walked through…

Maple Sunflower Seed Butter

Sunflower Seed Butter (or sometimes known as sunbutter) is a fabulous replacement for peanut or almond butter for those who cannot eat nuts.  I typically keep store bought on hand for an easy go-to snack, but homemade is extremely simple, more cost effective, and you can flavor it how you like. This recipe literally came…

Date-Sweetened BBQ Sauce

BBQ sauce is as inherent to Texas as Tex-Mex is. And truth be told, BBQ sauce isn’t just a condiment, it is a pure reflection of the personality consuming it. There are sauces that can be based on honey, tomato, molasses, smoky, spicy, pepper, tangy, mustard, and on and on.  And with each sauce comes a…

Garlic Chive Green Beans

Garlic Chive Green Beans Oh man, I got a little caught up in the chocolate craze there for awhile. I mean I take full responsibility and all but my recipe-writing is back on track. For the record, I have not tried to actually live off chocolate for weeks at a time, but I bet you…

Paleo Empanadas

Paleo Empanadas

I hate to brag, but can I? Okay, okay, I’ll hush up. But seriously, can I at least say that my pickypants Mister said these ranked up there with “the best of the best”? That is kind of major, because he is sort of, um, how do you say…”particular”? I mean I love the guy,…

About

Jennifer is a wife and mother of 3 in pursuit of better health for her family.
After being gluten free for 4 years, and having a multitude of chronic health issues, she realized there was still too much processed “food” in her pantry and change was needed. Jennifer began feeding her family more meals from WHOLE foods and less from boxes. Her recipes are predominantly paleo, meaning they are free of grain, gluten, dairy, and refined sugar, but make allowances for a few treats and sweets. She believes food can be medicine when used appropriately and that a few changes now can equate to huge benefits later. Healthy food does not need to be flavorless and void of personality, which she aims to accomplish through her many recipes.
