Healthier Skin From Within

Healthier Skin From Within

I have quite a bit of feedback lately with lots of enthusiastic “yeas” regarding safer skincare and better beauty. I know sometimes it is one of the hardest things to change, even more than food because people are very loyal to their skin regimes. I get it, people, I get it. There is one thing I did change a couple years ago and I really do think it’s made the difference in my skin FROM THE INSIDE. And I can tell the difference in my gut too in a much less vain way! But as we age, keeping our skin attractive becomes harder. And if we are not keen on injectables like botox and fillers, it gets even more complicated. Because I have autoimmune disease, injectable cosmetics are out for me, so I have to be creative in my anti-aging techniques. I’ve launched my SAFER SKIN + BETTER BEAUTY information soon so that I can present my research with cosmetics and skincare companies I’ve been working with and “auditioning” on my skin. I’ve been having a blast playing “dress up” but before we get to that part…. HEALTHIER SKIN FROM WITHIN! It really is true that collagen helps with all sorts of things like hair, nails, organs, and tissues. If you haven’t read my hair post, you can do that HERE. Color me shocked when my hair grew longer than it did when I was in my 20’s and thicker too despite having had 3 babies and losing so much of it. I got a chance to try Vital Protein’s Beauty Greens recently and while I was not convinced they could ever pry their regular Collagen out of my hands, but they told me I HAD to give it a try. Being the agreeable person that I am, I went for it. Here’s what Beauty Greens looks like on paper:

Visbily improves your natural beauty, as well as your skin’s firmness, hydration, and elasticity for a beautiful glow that nourishes from within
– Promotes collagen formation
– Improves skin smoothness
– Revitalizes skin tone
– Strengthens hair and nails
– Helps prevent the signs of aging/
– Increases skin moisture
– Reduces fine lines
– Heals skin and reduces redness
Vital Proteins’ Collagen Beauty Greens is a nourishing natural elixir for glowing skin and beauty that starts from the inside out. Our Non-GMO Marine Collagen Peptides are combined with healthy organic greens rich in Vitamin A, hyaluronic acid, and probiotics to deliver beauty from within for healthy skin, hair, and nails.
Our Collagen Beauty Greens combines organic coconut water with the finest Madagascar vanilla beans to deliver a refreshingly smooth and natural coconut vanilla flavored drink mix you’ll love.
9,375 mg Collagen Peptides – Foundation for healthy skin, hair, and nails
80 mg Hyaluronic Acid – Promotes collagen production and skin hydration
2B CFU Spore Probiotic Bacillus Coagulans – Good gut bacteria for a glowing complexion
9,375 organic raw greens – Supports overall health and wellness

So my verdict? Vital Proteins Beauty Greens is very mildly flavored, which is a good thing! Most powdered greens are either super gritty or pond scummy (sorry but it’s true) and I have gone through lots of cans of “trial runs” which ended up in wasted product. I even went as far as to experiment making a Leprechaun Latte and put the greens into my coffee with my regular dairy free creamer, stevia, and some cocoa powder. While it wasn’t overwhelming, and I liked it just fine, I can imagine most people will want to mix this into juice or a smoothie. In a smoothie it would be completely undetectable which is great since it covers the protein aspect and the greens. My husband mixed it straight into water and said, “this tastes like nothing,” which honestly is a complement because the taste is so mild! I’m really happy with the quality and I trust everything Vital Proteins puts out. They have a great assortment of products so if you are new to collagen or shopping around for superior brands, they are a must! You can check out their assortment of products HERE including beef liver capsules in the event you aren’t an offal fan! If you are looking for more great skincare products, I am LOVING the Charcoal Cleansing Bar from HERE and the Lustro #3 Oil with Ylang Ylang and Chamomile from HERE! I’ve been using them at night before bed and my skin looks really fresh when I wake up in the morning!

Would you use this instead of the one you mention in the hair post?

Either/or – both have the collagen – this just has the added benefit of greens and goodies. Both will do the same thing in terms of lovely hair and nails!

I do not see any ingredients that are red flags. I think it is ok but please do your own research if you are really concerned!

I see wheat grass and barley grass. To my knowledge these aren’t AIP… Am I mistaken? I’m on the lookout for anow AIP friendly greens powder too!

In the beginning when you are super strict you may not want to include them. As you progress and start adding back in they should be ok I believe, it’s sort of one of those areas where it depends on your personal tolerances and progress!

    HI there,

Just wandering if these powders are really Paleo? It seems like they would fall under the processed arena? Sounds delicious though!

In my opinion, every time you cook food and break down it’s raw components. When we cook bones to make broth, the heat and apple cider vinegar break down the minerals and draw them out of the bones, including the collagen. I see the processing with collagen powder not much different honestly.

    Hello,
I’ve been reading a lot about Paleo diet, and I am trying to make a decision to make a lifestyle switch, asap. I like the fact that this diet is not very limiting and sad plus it’s added skincare benefits is quite amazing! Thanks for sharing!

About

Jennifer is a wife and mother of 3 in pursuit of better health for her family.
After being gluten free for 4 years, and having a multitude of chronic health issues, she realized there was still too much processed “food” in her pantry and change was needed. Jennifer began feeding her family more meals from WHOLE foods and less from boxes. Her recipes are predominantly paleo, meaning they are free of grain, gluten, dairy, and refined sugar, but make allowances for a few treats and sweets. She believes food can be medicine when used appropriately and that a few changes now can equate to huge benefits later. Healthy food does not need to be flavorless and void of personality, which she aims to accomplish through her many recipes.
